Description / Bobby Garland® 2.5" Stroll'R

About This Product

The Bobby Garland® Stroll'R gives crappie anglers a swimming presentation for slow trolling and steady retrieves. Its 2.5-inch profile and curly paddle tail suit anglers covering open water or working a bait past suspended fish without relying on repeated sharp rod movements.

Designed with slow trolling in mind, the tail creates movement and vibration as the bait travels through the water. That same action carries over to casting, jigging and vertical fishing. Each pack contains 12 soft plastic baits.

When to Use It

Choose the Stroll'R when you want a moving bait for suspended crappie, fish following shad or crappie relating to brush, docks and standing timber. Long-line trolling, which pulls baits behind a moving boat, lets you cover open water; casting lets you work individual pieces of cover.

In spring, troll flats and creek channels leading toward spawning areas, then cast around shallow cover as fish move in. After the spawn, concentrate on suspended fish along those transitions. In summer, work above brush or around open-water forage. In fall, follow shad into shallower areas. For a winter approach, slow the retrieve and use sonar to monitor the presentation.

How to Fish It

Slow trolling

Start with a steady troll. A starting range is 0.7 to 1.3 mph; adjust to fish response and how the bait is running. Jighead weight alone does not establish trolling depth. Check your presentation at the chosen speed and line length before treating a setup as repeatable.

Casting and forward-facing sonar

Cast beyond the fish or cover, allow the bait to sink, then retrieve slowly and steadily. With forward-facing sonar, watch the bait approach the fish and adjust the retrieve to keep it in their path. Start with a 1/16 oz jighead in water less than 15 feet deep or a 1/8 oz jighead in 15 to 30 feet, adjusting as needed to control the presentation. These are starting setups, not fixed running-depth ratings.

Vertical fishing

Lower the bait beside timber or over brush and use small rod movements. Subtle movement and water current can work the tail; do not rely on continuous swimming action during a completely motionless pause.

Hook selection

Suggested hook sizes are #1, #2, #4 and #6. Select the jighead and hook for the presentation rather than treating one size as the only option.

Choosing a Color

Monkey Milk is a suggested starting choice for crystal-clear water. Treat that as a selection guide rather than a restriction on where the Stroll'R can be fished.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the Stroll'R, and how many come in a pack?

The Stroll'R measures 2.5 inches and comes in a 12-count pack.

Is the Stroll'R only for trolling?

No. The Stroll'R was designed for slow trolling, but it can also be cast, jigged or fished vertically. Use a slow, steady retrieve for casting, or small rod movements around vertical cover.

What jighead weight should I start with for forward-facing sonar?

Start with a 1/16 oz jighead in water less than 15 feet deep or a 1/8 oz jighead in 15 to 30 feet. Cast beyond the fish, let the bait sink and retrieve slowly. Adjust the setup to control the bait's position; these are starting recommendations, not guaranteed running depths.

How deep does the Stroll'R run when trolled?

The Stroll'R does not have a fixed trolling depth independent of its rig. Check the bait's depth with your selected jighead, trolling speed and line length instead of relying on a weight-only depth chart.

Does the tail keep swimming when I stop retrieving?

Subtle rod movement or current can move the tail during a pause. Continuous swimming action should not be assumed when the bait and surrounding water are motionless.

What Stroll'R color should I try in crystal-clear water?

Monkey Milk is a suggested starting choice for crystal-clear water. This recommendation does not mean that the Stroll'R is limited to clear-water fishing.
