New Opportunities for Bank & Creek Anglers from Lurenet
July brings a fabulous new Lurenet Bank & Creek Kit and with it, additional opportunities to score custom-color lures and catch more fish this summer.
Need some refreshing news as summer’s heat fires up? We have that covered. July brings a brand new Lurenet Bank & Creek Kit with lures hand-picked for the season, specifically for bank and creek fishing situations, along with other great extra offerings found in every Bank & Creek Kit.
Let’s jump right into the contents of the newest kit and explore how you can put these lures to work this summer, whether you’re wading a creek, walking a pond bank or out in a boat.
Great Custom Colors

Like every past kit, the new Bank & Creek Kits includes custom-color lures – in this case, a Norman Middle N in Lavender Tiger Shad and a Rebel Teeny Pop-R in a cool color called Special Ops. Unlike the case with past kits – based on feedback from anglers who wanted to get their hands on more of specific custom-color baits, these special colors are available in the July Bank & Creek Kit AND separate from the kit.
Tiger Lavender Shad is a great hybrid color because the light sides, lavender back and shad spot indeed suggest a shad, but the bands that put tiger in the name help it nicely represent a bluegill. It’s extra good in clear to lightly stained water, which makes it a nice fit for mid-summer, when ponds and creeks to be a bit clearer in much of the country.
The Middle N is a plump medium diver that has a wide kick. It’s ideal for cranking near pond dams during the summer and for digging down in deep pools of creeks and smaller rivers. The Middle N’ wide wobble and rounded profile help it shed vegetation and deflect well off rocks.
Special Ops has a scale pattern of gold and black on top and a light underside with splashes of an orangish red to trigger strike. It suggests many kinds of forage, especially on the Teeny Pop-R, which, as the name suggests, is a downsized version of the original Pop-R. The Teeny version works extra well through the heat of summer, when more grasshoppers, beetles, cicadas and other terrestrial insects tend to find themselves accidentally afloat. The small size of this Pop-R makes it attractive to a host of fish species, leading to multi-species catches in many Bank & Creek settings.
More Topwater Options

Bass and other gamefish in creeks and ponds spend a lot of time looking up during July and August, making topwater lures outstanding options. In addition to the Special Ops Teeny Pop-R, the new kit includes a BOOYAH Pond Magic Buzz and an Arbogast Jointed Jitterbug 2.0.
The Pond Magic Buzz is a small-framed 1/8-ounce buzzbait that is outstanding for the Bank & Creek approach because its small size makes it look like an easy meal for fish of many kinds and because it is well suited for fishing with the lighter tackle that is often associated with this approach. The Grasshopper color, which is yellow and black, offers outstanding visibility and suggests a variety of critters that could be swimming on the surface.
Whether you’re wading a creek, walking a pond bank, or working from a canoe or johnboats, a Pond Magic Buzz allows you to cover water quickly and call up active fish. It also is just weedless enough to slide through sparse vegetation and the ends of laydowns and to work close to stumps, dock supports and other cover without significant likeliness of snagging.
The Jointed Jitterbug 2.0 can be used with good success in a host of settings, but the entire Jitterbug family is best known for its tendency to prompt vicious attacks on summer nights. The steady gurgle attracts fish from afar and they can zero in on the bait and attack, even with limited light. Attacks are sudden and will scare you, but few things in fishing are more fun.
The Jointed Jitterbug 2.0 has an extra wobble with its broken-back design, and it comes with upgraded hooks and hardware and a special feather tail. The Blue Kill color that comes in the new kit suggests a bluegill or other sunfish and features dark colors that make it outstanding for fishing in the moonlight.
Soft Plastic Selection

Soft-plastic lures provide an excellent option for going down after fish that won’t come up, in part because they can be rigged weedless and fished in vegetation and assorted other cover that provides shade and refuge this time of year. Because soft plastics are extra important during summer, this July/August Kit includes packages of three outstanding YUM baits, each distinctive in appeals and applications.
Don’t overlook the versatility of the Spine Craw. Texas rigged, it can be punched through pads or matted vegetation, flipped or pitched around wood cover, hopped down slopes or swam to engage the fast, tight action of its claws. It is also a popular and outstanding trailer for a jig or bladed jig. For creeks and rocky areas of ponds or lakes, a Spine Craw also lends itself nicely to being rigged on Ned head or shaky head and dragged or hopped. The Bama Magic color is highly natural and versatile.
The Thump’N Dinger takes the shape of the iconic YUM Dinger and adds a swimming tail that creates a lot of thump. Rigged with a small weight, it can be swam through gaps in surface vegetation so the tail kicks right at the surface – like an ultra-subtle buzz bait. The same thump of the tail calls in fish and prompts strikes when swam partway down in the water column and when the bait it worked along the bottom, following contours of points and humps, and dropping of ledges. Junebug provides outstanding visibility in a range of conditions.
Finally, the kit includes YUM Ribbontail Worms in Tequila Sunrise, which is an outstanding color by day and by night. Despite all the variety of fishing lures, sometimes it is tough to top the classic appeal of a plastic worm, with its narrow profile that suggests an easy meal and always-wavering ribbon tail design.
Providing other pieces needed to fish the Spine Craws, Thump’N Dingers and Ribbontails, the July/August Kit includes Scottsboro Tackle Co. Tungsten Worm Weights in 3/16- and 1/4-ounce sizes and a package of exceptionally sharp Pro-X 3/O Wide Gap Plus Hooks. Having two sizes of weights significantly builds options for situations and presentations with any of the plastics.
