Classic Patterns: 3 Levels of Power
OOLOGAN BUSHES
Edwin Evers is fishing Oklahoma’s Lake Oologah, where recent rains have flooded the available shoreline cover, leaving countless bassy looking places for the fish to hide. It’s mid-August and the lake is finally starting to recede. Edwin starts off flipping and pitching flooded bushes to see if the big girls are still up shallow in the heat of the summer.
BALSA BASSIN’
Edwin Evers is faced with dual challenges – a brand new body of water and a falling water level. This lake is so far off the beaten path that it even has a sign professing to ban tournaments on its waters. But it also has a ton of choice-looking shallow cover which should hold shallow bass during the fall months.
DEEP CRANKIN
Nothing comes easy in hot weather, and big bass are no exception. We meet up again with Edwin Evers on Oklahoma’s Grand Lake. The dog days of August may be tough, but he’s not inclined to bring out the sissy gear. Instead, he’s going to go after the big girls with a classic summer power technique – a Fat Free Shad on offshore humps and ledges.
