A Spoon For Any Situation
Spoons come in many different colors, sizes, and styles. You can find spoons in slab, flutter or the weedless teaspoon shape for vegetation. Spoons can be fished vertically over creek channels or cast out over schooling fish and skipped back on the surface then dropped on a tight line through the school.
Most spoons are presented in a vertical movement of short hops. A depth finder is critical since this will show the bottom contour, baitfish, brush piles and the spoon. I prefer a 3/4-ounce Cotton Cordell C.C. Spoon and attach it to the line with an Excalibur Hold-Tite Snap or Excalibur Tear Drop Split Ring.
Try replacing the hook that comes with a spoon with an Excalibur Tx3 treble hook or Excalibur Tx3 feather-dressed treble hook. If you are fishing brush piles or getting continuously hung up, change the hook to an Excalibur Tx3 Wide Gap Worm Hook.
In stained water, superglue Excalibur rattles to the C.C. Spoon to aid the fish in locating your C.C. Spoon. A Yum Mega Tube can be put over the top of the C.C. Spoon to change the textures and color.
