Jimmy Houston Says, "BOOYAH!"

02/01/08

Jimmy Houston has several new weapons in his angling arsenal and a new phrase to go along with them. The popular host of Jimmy Houston Outdoors, who is well known for his trademark hairdo and laugh, now has reason to call out, "BOOYAH!" when he sets the hook into a hefty largemouth.

Like fellow angling legends and long-time friends, Bill Dance and Roland Martin, Houston is now saying it loud and saying it proud, and chasing fish all over the country with BOOYAH spinnerbaits, jigs and, of course, Boogee Baits.

Houston, who first built his reputation on the tournament trail with a spinnerbait rod in hand and who has always been known as a spinnerbait specialist, is thrilled to have all the baits in the BOOYAH line at his disposal and is bubbling over about how they are designed and put together.

"BOOYAH baits are loaded with features that truly separate them from ordinary spinnerbaits," Houston said about BOOYAH spinnerbaits. "The head shape makes them very difficult to hang, even in heavy cover, and the red eyes and gillplates are important for attracting strikes. I’m also really excited about the Leverage hook system that’s part of many of the spinnerbaits and the Boogee Bait. With that single feature, most fishermen will land far more of the fish than they otherwise would."

Houston is also working with engineers at BOOYAH Bait Company to develop a signature series of spinnerbaits – baits that will be unlike anything in the marketplace.

Among Houston’s favorite BOOYAH baits is the Tux & Tails, which features a unique 55-strand Bio-Flex silicone skirt with a built-in trailer. "Unlike an added-on trailer, the built-in silicone trailer doesn’t take away from the bait’s natural action, so you get the benefit of a trailer without the negative."

The Tux & Tails also comes equipped with Colorado blades, which Houston typically tends to favor because of the added vibration, and red accents "in the right places."

Although the BOOYAH brand association is new for the long-time television show host, Houston’s partnership with PRADCO-Fishing, the parent company of BOOYAH, goes way, way back. He first teamed up with Rebel Lures, PRADCO’s original brand, more than three decades ago.
