The first Rebel lure introduced was the 3 1/2" (F10) Rebel Minnow. Its success came almost overnight. Demand quickly grew for other sizes and styles of the now legendary minnows. It wasn't long before anglers everywhere began asking for other style lures… models that would sink, others that would run deep, topwater poppers, and later, crankbaits. A host of Rebel lures, some early models, are now legends… lures like the "Broken Back" (jointed) minnow, the Super-R, Pop-R, Wee-R and the Rebel Crawfish series. These lures remain today as productive favorites in the tackle boxes of pro and novice anglers around the world.
The First Rebel Minnow
The birth of the Rebel minnow was prompted to meet the demand of the marketplace for a light, easy-to-cast, durable plastic-bodied lure with an action that simulated a struggling baitfish. Shown here is the prototype of that first Rebel lure. Its unique molded-in cross-hatched surface was designed to reflect light with the lure's slightest movement further enhancing its lifelike appearance. It was this 3 1⁄2 inch lure that was the genesis of the proud 40-year-old fishing tradition that is Rebel.
